Description

Acronis Agent for ESX/ESXi is a component of Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server - Virtual Edition. See Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Editions and Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Agent for ESX/ESXi.

VMware ESX/ESXi evaluation period

Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 supports VMware ESX/ESXi through Acronis Agent for ESX/ESXi during the VMware evaluation period when there is no serial key entered.

You can install Acronis Agent for ESX/ESXi on VMware ESX/ESXi Server and back up VMware infrastructure guest operating systems through Acronis Agent for ESX/ESXi.

Free VMware ESXi

Acronis Agent for ESX/ESXi does not support free VMware ESXi.

After the evaluation period, if you enter the free VMware ESXi serial key, Acronis Agent for ESX/ESXi will stop functioning.

The specific VMware API through which Acronis Agent for ESX/ESXi works is the Remote Command Line (RCLI) appliance. RCLI is available in read-only access in the free VMware ESXi. Due to this, Acronis Agent for ESX/ESXi cannot function in the free VMware ESXi.

Any virtual machine (a guest operating system) can still be backed up with the regular Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Agent.

Paid VMware ESX/ESXi

Acronis Agent for ESX/ESXi supports VMware ESX/ESXi as a component of the following VMware Infrastructure Suites:

  • VMware Infrastructure Foundation
  • VMware Infrastructure Standard
  • VMware Infrastructure Enterprise
Any virtual machine (a guest operating system) can also be backed up with the regular Acronis Backup & Recovery 10
